Subject: Early Fifties
As for the sitcom, I enjoyed the fact it had NO laugh track...seemed to give a certain quality to this bit.
The portrayal of the African American was still so racist it's almost unbelievable and they tossed in as much "sex" as allowed with the kissing question, but the married couple were not allowed to share the same bed!
This medium, Television, was powerful enough to shape ideas and attitudes for decades...the advertisement industry was already on track for setting consumer greed and consumption. This was the beginning..how it progressed is amazing.
